From classroom teacher to international coach, my journey has always been driven by one mission: bringing humanity back into education. Today, I help students, educators, and schools across the world create environments where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.

Where it all began

My story starts in a history classroom in Milton Keynes, UK. I loved teaching, but like many educators, I struggled quietly with stress, pressure, and the expectation to hold everything together.
Eventually, I reached a point where I needed support, and that’s when I discovered coaching.

For the first time, I learned that it was safe to express, not suppress, what I was feeling. I realised that growth isn’t about being perfect; it’s about reflection, action, courage, and choosing a different path.
That personal transformation changed how I taught, how I connected with students, and ultimately, the direction of my entire life.

I’m Sam, the founder of BORA Education. My journey began in a history classroom in the UK, where I loved teaching but struggled with the pressure and emotional weight of the job. When I reached out to a coach for support, everything changed. I learned how to understand myself better, express what I felt, and rebuild my confidence. That experience shaped the educator, and the human, I wanted to become.

From Personal Growth to Global Impact

Inspired by the difference coaching made in my life, I trained as an ICF-accredited coach and, in 2018, founded Student Breakthrough, a coaching programme designed to help young people build confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

The impact was immediate. Students began to open up, take responsibility, and believe in themselves again. Parents felt supported. Schools saw real change.

Then something unexpected happened: teachers started asking how they could learn the same skills. This led to the creation of the Educators Coaching Academy (ECA), where I began training teachers around the world to use coaching tools in the classroom and beyond.

As educators grew more confident, schools became more connected, emotionally safer, and more human.

What started as personal change became a global movement.

The Birth of BORA Education

When I moved to Lisbon, Portugal, everything expanded. Working closely with international schools, I coached students, trained staff, and organised wellbeing festivals that brought entire communities together.

It became clear that this wasn’t just about coaching students or training teachers.
It was about transforming the very heartbeat of education.

And so, BORA Education was born. “BORA” means “let’s go” in Portuguese, and that’s the energy we bring to everything we do: forward movement, optimism, courage, and real, meaningful change.
